Kim Collison and Lucy Gossage Dominate THE Spine Race Podium

Kim Collison and Lucy Gossage win the Montane Spine Race 2025 with exceptional races battling extreme snowy conditions.

Lucy Gossage returned following her third-place win in last year’s Montane Spine Race. Lucy arrived at the Spine Race start line last year as a 14-time Ironman champion transitioning into a new sport.

Following an intense and moving blog post explaining her story surrounding last year’s race, she returned to reclaim the race as her own, describing it as ‘a race for closure.’

As it is her story to tell, a situation occurred that robbed her of the positive memories she created in the 2024 race. We suggest you take the time to read her own words.

Returning in 2025 wasn’t an easy choice as it would mean facing an immensely hurtful episode in her life. Still, as she wrote recently, success this year would mean “drawing a line under the chaos of the last year and reclaiming my memories of the Spine for myself”.

Robyn Cassidy led the female race for the majority, however, when Gossage overtook her, she managed to create a gap, ensuring her the first place position in a fantastic time of 87 hours, 41 minutes and 38 seconds.

Kim Collison took the first male/open position, having secured his place at the front of the race from the early moments. However, this race was in many ways a redemption for Collison, who has been working for four years to secure this exceptional win. Kim has faced three DNF’s at this race for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions however returned following years of consistent effort and mental resilience.

Kim secured his first-place time in 82 hours, 46 minutes and 32 seconds.
